Advancements in Single-Port Robotic Urologic Surgery: A Comprehensive Review of Contemporary Innovations and Outcomes

Purpose Of Review:
Single-port robotic surgery has experienced remarkable evolution over the past five years, fundamentally transforming minimally invasive urologic practice. This review examines recent advancements in single-port robotic platforms, surgical techniques, and clinical outcomes across the spectrum of urologic procedures.
Recent Findings:
The introduction of the da Vinci SP surgical system and emerging competitors has catalyzed innovation in urologic surgery. Novel approaches including Retzius-sparing radical prostatectomy, extraperitoneal access techniques, transvesical simple prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, ureteral reconstruction, and pyeloplasty have demonstrated comparable oncologic and functional outcomes to conventional multiport approaches while potentially offering enhanced cosmesis, reduced postoperative pain, and faster recovery. Single-port robotic urologic surgery has matured significantly, with accumulating evidence supporting its safety, feasibility, and efficacy while utilizing novel surgical approaches. Continued refinement of surgical techniques, expanding platform availability, and growing surgeon experience are driving broader adoption. This review synthesizes contemporary literature to guide clinical practice and identify future research priorities.
