Abstract:
Prostate-specific membrane antigen is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is highly specific and overexpressed in prostate cancer cells, making it an effective target for theranostics. Despite significant progress in recent years with prostate-specific membrane antigen-targeting radiopharmaceutical therapies that show promising anticancer activity and safety profiles, resistance is inevitable and underpins the need for combinatorial approaches. In this article, we discuss the progress made toward radiopharmaceutical therapy combination approaches, including those involving androgen receptor pathway inhibitors, poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribose) polymerase inhibitors, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy, that are under active investigation.
