Introduction:
Aurora kinases are a family of serine/threonine kinases, responsible for regulating mitotic progression and their dysfunction is closely correlated with tumorigenesis. Since its discovery in the late 1990s, Aurora kinase has been established as a promising anti-tumor target.
Areas Covered:
We have updated the clinical trial and patent information for Aurora kinase inhibitors from 2021 to the present, using PubMed、Web of Science, Espacenet Patent Search and www.clinicaltrials.gov for retrieval.
Expert Opinion:
Selective Aurora kinase inhibitors, multi-target inhibitors or combination therapy currently represent the main development trends of Aurora kinase inhibitors. Improving pharmacokinetic properties, enhancing in vivo delivery efficiency and expanding the applications of Aurora kinase inhibitors beyond the antitumor field constitute the latest advances in the research of Aurora kinase inhibitors in recent years.
