Abstract:
A dinuclear iron(II) complex supported by a bidentate amide ligand is used as a surrogate to study potential intermediates for C-H oxidation mediated by iron on silica. Both oxygen and organic azides react with the molecular complex to yield insertion products, the latter furnishing sterically encumbered secondary amines under uniquely mild conditions.
