Abstract:
The senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) refers to a collection of inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors secreted by senescence cells. Senescent cells are those that have undergone growth arrest but remain metabolically active. The study of cellular senescence and SASP has become paramount for understanding aging and age-related diseases, including cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Moreover, investigating SASP is crucial for ensuring the safe and effective use of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived therapeutics in regenerative medicine. The following protocol provides a reproducible method to characterize SASP in primary and iPSC-derived skin fibroblasts by multiplex immunoassays.
