Abstract:
We evaluated extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) screening agar media using 11 clinical Enterobacterales thymidine-dependent small-colony variants, including three ESBL-producing Escherichia coli. All three grew on Vital Media ESBL/MBL screening agar medium, two weakly on ChromID ESBL, and none on CHROMagar ESBL. Adding 10 μg/mL thymidine improved growth on the latter two.
