Abstract:
This case report presents a 43-year-old female with a ventriculoperitoneal shunt. She had symptoms of increased intracranial pressure: headache, nausea, vomiting and blurred vision. A CT showed unchanged narrow ventricles, but an invasive intracranial pressure monitor showed severely elevated intracranial pressure. Elevated intracranial pressure can, in select cases, elude typical radiological findings in those with cerebral ventricular shunts, especially those with long-standing shunts, typically from birth.
