Abstract:
Oncoplastic breast surgery (OPBS) combines oncologic resection with immediate reconstructive techniques to optimize disease control and patient-reported outcomes. Despite growing recognition of OPBS as standard care for many breast cancer presentations, training remains inconsistent internationally and curricula are rarely standardized. This manuscript, the Preoperative Curriculum of a three-part series, defines the essential preoperative knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for safe, patient-centered OPBS practice and provides guidance on learning environments and assessment. It centralizes consent, ERAS optimization, and documentation principles that will be cross-referenced in the intraoperative and postoperative parts of the currriculum.
