Abstract:
Sulfonamides (SAs) are frequently detected as residues in animal-derived foods (ADFs); however, their accurate quantification across different food matrices remains challenging owing to severe matrix effects. Conventional methods rely on matrix-matched calibration, which limits their analytical universality and increases the operational complexity. Herein, an anhydrous magnesium sulfate (ahMgSO4)-assisted electroextraction technique was developed for the rapid and reliable determination of six SAs. Electroextraction enabled the selective enrichment of SAs, while ahMgSO4 removed matrix-derived interferents that compromised the electroextraction efficiency. Our method enabled accurate quantification of SAs in various ADFs using solvent-based calibration curves without matrix-matched calibration. Under optimized conditions, our method exhibited low limits of detection (0.3-0.6 μg/kg) and quantification (1-2 μg/kg), with satisfactory accuracy (81.9-110.8%) and precision (RSD < 11.8%) across different ADF matrices. This study provides a practical strategy for matrix-tolerant residue analysis in complex food systems and further expands the application potential of electroextraction in food analysis.
