Introduction to the special article series to guide neonatal vascular access

Vascular access is a pervasive facet of contemporary neonatal practice, yet it lacks standardization, and some practices lack supporting evidence. This special series consolidates existing knowledge and consensus around ten key areas of neonatal vascular access to bridge practice gaps, support evidence-based standardization, and highlight priorities for further research to address gaps in knowledge. Together, the ten recommendations advocate objective standardization of neonatal vascular access practice to improve neonatal vascular access management, patient safety and outcomes.
