The conceptual form of the institutional stance
1Hunter College, CUNY, USA sprasada@hunter.cuny.edu.
Abstract:
There cannot be a distinct grammar for the institutional stance because institutional kind concepts (i) are not self-contained, (ii) share formal characteristics with non-institutional kind concepts, and (iii) combine with non-institutional kind concepts to form coherent thoughts, implicating a common representational format. The stance is best thought of as one perspective provided by a generative grammar of kind concepts.
