Abstract:
Plants have a remarkable ability to maintain their growth and development even under stressful conditions. In their work, Chiyoko Machida and colleagues show that the protein ASYMMETRIC LEAVES2 not only plays an important role in adaxial-abaxial polarity establishment during leaf development but may also coordinate with nucleolar factors to contribute to the plant response to nucleolar stress. To learn more about their work, we talked to the first author, Ayami Nakagawa, as well as the corresponding author, Chiyoko Machida, Professor Emeritus at Chubu University, Japan.
