Mapping the Global Research Landscape of Transvaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (vNOTES):...

This study evaluated Türkiye's position and contribution within the global research landscape of vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) from 2012 to January 15, 2026.

Web of Science, Scopus, and TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM TR Index searches yielded 466, 689, and 210 records, respectively (total n = 1365). After removal of 415 duplicates, 125 ineligible document types, and 353 records failing relevance or analytical eligibility criteria, 472 peer-reviewed articles and reviews were included. VOSviewer and CiteSpace were used for bibliographic coupling, coauthorship, co-citation, and temporal mapping. International country rankings and citation-based networks were calculated from the comparable Web of Science and Scopus metadata.

Türkiye ranked second in publication output with 47 documents and showed high collaboration intensity (total link strength = 472). Institutional and author networks indicated a transition from isolated single-center reports toward multicenter collaboration, including the TR-MIGS platform. Thematic mapping showed expansion from feasibility studies toward high-BMI populations, emergency applications, pelvic-floor procedures, and other complex indications. Records assigned to 2026 reflect indexing only through January 15 and were treated as a partial-year research-front snapshot.

Türkiye has become a prominent contributor to global vNOTES research. Its contribution is characterized by dense national collaboration and diversification toward complex clinical applications; however, bibliometric prominence should not be interpreted as direct evidence of clinical superiority.
