Abstract:
This work presents a novel screen-printed carbon electrochemical sensing platform based on the zirconium metal-organic framework UiO-67 for the detection and quantification of tyrosine (Tyr) in aqueous biologically relevant environments. The microporous structure, high surface area and water stability of UiO-67 make it suitable as an electrode modifier for electrochemical sensing. UiO-67-modified screen-printed carbon electrode (UiO-67/SPCE) sensors were developed, and their electrochemical characteristics were evaluated using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV) measurements were carried out to assess the electroanalytical performance for the detection of Tyr, including sensitivity, selectivity, and detection limit. The UiO-67/SPCE displayed a dynamic range of 0.5-200 μM and a very low LOD of 0.17 μM. The UiO-67-based sensor effectively distinguishes the target analyte even in a complex biological matrix, such as diluted bovine serum, highlighting its potential for biomedical diagnostics and food safety applications.
