Background:
The Diabetes Care Centers of the Mexican Institute for Social Security (CADIMSS according to its acronym in Spanish) deliver comprehensive, multidisciplinary care, promoting patient and family co-responsibility through monthly medical consultations and educational sessions over a 6-month period. Its primary objective is to optimize diabetes control and prevent chronic complications.
Objective:
To identify differences in biophysical and biochemical parameters among patients treated in CADIMSS according to the therapeutic regimens used.
Material And Methods:
A retrospective (retrolective) cohort study was conducted, analyzing 500 medical records from the CADIMSS program at the IMSS' General Hospital No. 1, in La Paz, Baja California Sur, between 2022 and 2024. Only 104 records contained complete information. Quantitative variables were described using the median and interquartile range (IQR), due to the non-normal distribution of the data. Comparisons between groups were performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, with statistical significance set at alpha < 0.05.
Results:
Patients in group 1 showed better glycemic control, with lower glycated hemoglobin and plasma glucose levels compared to the other groups, with no changes in body mass index.
Conclusions:
The evaluated therapeutic regimens improved glycemic control, with better performance in group 1; however, diabetes remains an active condition without lifestyle changes, which is why it requires a comprehensive management.
