Abstract:
Esterases are a class of enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of ester bonds in various substrates. This chapter presents a methodology for the heterologous expression of Carica papaya esterase (CpEST) in the yeast Komagataella phaffii. The aim is to provide a detailed protocol for the efficient production and characterization of CpEST, highlighting the advantages of using a yeast-based system for scalable production and extracellular secretion. This approach enhances the potential for utilizing plant-derived esterases and lipases in industrial applications.
