Successful treatment of inverse psoriasis with ustekinumab: a case report

Inverse psoriasis is a relatively rare and distinct subtype of psoriasis whose pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. The particular location of lesions presents significant therapeutic challenges, and no consensus guidelines are currently available. Immune mediated inflammation plays a key role in disease development. Lesions are susceptible to riction and moisture, which reduces treatment tolerance in affected areas. We report a case of a 32-year-old male patient with inverse psoriasis successfully treated with ustekinumab. The patient received four subcutaneous injections of ustekinumab, and after 24 weeks of treatment, both skin lesions and pruritus showed marked improvement. Our experience suggests that ustekinumab may represent a novel therapeutic approach for this psoriasis subtype.
