Abstract:
This retrospective cohort study evaluated systematic health education combined with narrative intervention in 100 male inpatients with schizophrenia (January-December 2024). Patients were equally assigned to routine care (control, n = 50) or additional systematic health education plus narrative intervention (intervention, n = 50). Outcomes included the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), Self-Stigma Scale, Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ), and Schizophrenia Quality of Life Scale (SQLS). Supervision ensured all questionnaires were independently completed by patients rather than by family members or staff. Baseline scores were comparable between groups (p > 0.05). Post-intervention, the intervention group showed significantly lower PANSS (positive, negative, general, total), Self-Stigma (emotional, cognitive, behavioral, total), SCSQ negative coping, and SQLS scores, alongside higher SCSQ positive coping (all p < 0.05). Effect sizes (Cohen's d: 0.82-2.15) indicated moderate-to-large clinical effects. This structured combined intervention may effectively alleviate psychotic symptoms and internalized self-stigma, reshape positive coping styles, and improve quality of life in male schizophrenia patients, warranting prospective validation.
