Research trends in artificial intelligence use in women's health (from 1992 to 2024): A bibliometric analysis

Artificial intelligence is widely used in women's health, as it is in all areas of healthcare. This study aimed to examine the use of artificial intelligence in women's health bibliometrically. This is a descriptive bibliometric study. Data were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer and the Bibliometrix package in R software programs were used to analyze the data. Country, institution, journal, author, citation, keyword, and collaboration analyses were performed. A total of 592 articles were analyzed. A total of 1079 institutions from 89 countries have contributed to artificial intelligence in women's health. The most productive author is Benavent M. with five articles. The most productive country is the United States with 742 publications, and the most productive institution is the University of California System with 62 publications. The leading journal in terms of publications is the Journal of Medical Internet Research (20 publications). The most frequently used keywords are women, health, and risk. This study serves as a guide for identifying potential stakeholders for future research plans. It also establishes a fundamental framework for evidence-based applications of artificial intelligence for researchers and clinicians.
