[Standardized establishment scheme for asthma outpatient clinics (pilot)]
Abstract:
Bronchial asthma (asthma) is a common chronic respiratory disease in China, yet the quality of diagnosis and treatment varies across regions and levels of health care institutions. Asthma, particularly severe asthma, is often poorly controlled and associated with frequent acute exacerbations, substantially impairing patients' quality of life and imposing a considerable socioeconomic burden. Considering the current state of asthma diagnosis and treatment in China, the writing group drew on domestic and international asthma guidelines and literature to develop standards for asthma outpatient clinics within the framework of the standardized development criteria for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) and formulated this implementation plan. The plan is intended to provide a reference for the establishment of disease-specific asthma clinics in China and to enhance the capacity for the management of asthma, particularly severe asthma.

Asthma is classified as allergic and non-allergic. Allergens such as dust mites, pollen, and pet dander trigger allergic asthma, while factors like cold air, intense emotions, or exercise can induce non-allergic asthma.
