Abstract:
Adult ileocolic intussusception caused by a giant ileocecal lipoma is an exceptionally rare cause of acute abdomen. We present the case of a 72-year-old male with ileocolic intussusception on CT scan who underwent manual reduction followed by definitive segmental resection with 2 cm margins. Histopathological examination revealed a large submucosal lipoma at the ileocecal junction acting as the lead point. This case highlights the importance of considering benign mesenchymal tumors in the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen in adults.
