Abstract:
High-surface-area Cu/SiO2 nanofibres prepared by electrospinning enable stable ethanol dehydrogenation to acetaldehyde. The best nanofibrous catalyst maintained 66% ethanol conversion with 99% acetaldehyde selectivity after 100 h at 325 °C at WHSV 4.73 h-1, outperforming conventional Cu deposited on fumed and ordered mesoporous SiO2. Nanofibrous morphology suppresses Cu sintering thus improving catalysts' stability.
