Abstract:
AbstractThe e-cigarette and nicotine pouch product landscape changes rapidly. Using publicly available data from the 2025 National Youth Tobacco Survey, we assessed prevalence, flavors, and brands of e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches used by U.S. middle and high school students. E-cigarettes were the most common tobacco product reportedly used, followed by nicotine pouches. Nearly all youth who used e-cigarettes or nicotine pouches used flavored products, especially fruit-flavored e-cigarettes and mint-flavored nicotine pouches. Geek Bar was the e-cigarette brand and ZYN the nicotine pouch brand most frequently used among youth in 2025. Multilevel youth tobacco prevention efforts, including consistent surveillance, remain critical.

Drugs Acting on Autonomic Ganglia: Stimulants
Ganglionic stimulants activate NM nicotinic receptors in autonomic ganglia, falling into two categories: nicotine mimetics [e.g., lobeline, dimethylpiperazine, tetramethylammonium] and muscarinic receptor agonists [e.g., muscarine, methacholine]. The first category's action is rapid and blocked by nicotinic receptor antagonists, while the second category's action is delayed and blocked by atropine-like agents. Nicotine, an alkaloid, affects the heart rate by stimulating sympathetic or...
