Objective:
This study aimed to construct a home-based social support service content framework for Chinese patients with chronic heart failure (CHF), so as to provide a theoretical and content foundation for addressing their home-based social support needs.
Methods:
Guided by Maslow's hierarchy of needs, a home-based social support service content framework for Chinese CHF patients was developed through a combination of literature review, semi-structured interviews, and the Delphi expert consultation method. The weights of the identified indicators were subsequently determined using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP).
Results:
A total of 7 primary-level, 17 secondary-level, and 50 tertiary-level indicators were initially derived from the literature review and semi-structured interviews. In the two Delphi rounds, the effective response rates were both 100%, with expert suggestion rates of 53.4% and 20.0%, and authority coefficients of 0.872 and 0.881, respectively. Kendall's W values for the two rounds were 0.306 and 0.310 (both P < 0.001). Following two rounds of expert consultation, the final framework comprised 7 primary-level, 18 secondary-level, and 58 tertiary-level indicators.
Conclusions:
The developed home-based social support service content framework for Chinese CHF patients demonstrates satisfactory scientific rigor and reliability, and may serve as a useful reference for healthcare providers in addressing the home-based social support needs of this population.
