Fast calculation method of full-color large-scale backdrops using a single FFT in full-parallax high-definition CGH
Abstract:
We propose a computational technique for full-color, full-parallax, high-definition computer-generated holograms (FPHD-CGH) to calculate the wavefields of three-dimensional scenes, arranging large-scale backdrops to avoid the appearance of objects floating in a dark space. The method is based on numerical propagation using a single fast Fourier transform (FFT) and enables the significant reduction of computation time and memory usage. We corrected color aberration caused by single FFT propagation using a resampling-based technique. Occlusion in the expanded background is processed by a mask-based technique. We demonstrated an FPHD-CGH and compared computation time and memory consumption with those of a conventional method.
