Abstract:
In odontological human identification, the dental coding system applicable to disaster victim identification software used in the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) operations provides a structured and internationally recognised framework for comparing antemortem and postmortem dental information. However, the lack of a consolidated, peer-reviewed guide to these codes can pose challenges for interpretation and practical application. This study aimed to address this gap by providing an accessible, consensus-based guide to the current INTERPOL dental coding system. The analysis focused on code classification, definition, syntax, and logical combinations for recording dental features.
