Abstract:
Language is the foundation that makes mental health services or "the talking cure" possible. Yet, the role of language and bilingualism within evidence-based care for children, adolescents, and families remains mostly overlooked and understudied. This special section, Bilingual Youth Mental Health Services, focuses on issues of language and bilingualism in various aspects of evidence-based care for youth. Articles offer practical guidelines and training models to support bilingual scientist practitioners as they develop bilingual competencies; they also review approaches for adapting evidence-based treatment, in particular, Dialectical Behavior Therapy for adolescents.
