Abstract:
The synthesis and isolation of multiply-bonded main-group compounds have attracted considerable research interest owing to their unusual bonding and reactivity. Herein, we report the synthesis of a novel bis(phosphasilene), Ph-PSi(L)-P(Ph)-Si(L)P-Ph [L = PhC(tBuN)2] (1), featuring two non-conjugated SiP units separated by two Si-P single bonds. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal highly polarized, non-delocalized SiP double bonds.
