Abstract:
This study examined associations between purpose in life (PIL) and objective indicators of exercise task completion patterns among college students. Participants were 547 college students (Mean age = 19.71, 42.23% female) required to complete 63 km within 10 weeks for course credit. Participants completed questionnaires assessing PIL and demographic characteristics before the running task began. Running data were tracked via a mobile app and five behavioral indicators were derived: days from task onset to initiation, days from completion to deadline, total completion time, percentage of distance in final 2 weeks, and frequency of early morning runs. Multiple regression analyses revealed that higher PIL significantly predicted shorter total completion time after controlling for gender, age, and BMI. PIL was also associated with more frequent early morning runs, although this association was not robust to alternative model specifications. However, PIL showed no significant associations with the remaining behavioral indicators.

Exercise Stress Test
Exercise stress testing, commonly known as a treadmill test, is a noninvasive procedure used to evaluate cardiovascular function and diagnose heart conditions.
Definition
An exercise stress test measures the heart's response to exertion using a treadmill or stationary bicycle. Chest electrodes record the heart's electrical activity through an ECG, and blood pressure is monitored regularly.

Exercise and Cardiac Output
Sustained exercise increases the muscles' oxygen demand, which can be met...
Exercise and Cardiovascular Response
Light to moderate physical activity initiates a series of interconnected responses in the body. The heart rate modestly increases in anticipation of the workout, followed by widespread vasodilation as oxygen consumption by skeletal muscles increases. This results in decreased peripheral resistance, increased capillary blood flow, and accelerated...
Exercise and Muscle Performance
Endurance exercises
Endurance exercises involve running, swimming, or cycling, which require repetitive movements with low force output. When a person engages in endurance exercise, a few noticeable changes occur in their skeletal muscles. For instance, the number of capillaries...
