[Unilateral Lisch epithelial corneal dystrophy discovered after LASIK evaluation: a case report]
Abstract:
A 24-year-old woman was found to have a gray, intermittent, linear opacity in the supertemporal quadrant of the right corneal epithelium during preoperative evaluation for laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK); all other examinations were within normal limits. After bilateral LASIK, both corneas healed well, and the linear opacity in the right eye had disappeared. More than 3 years postoperatively, a gray band-shaped opacity was detected in the right cornea, and a diagnosis of Lisch epithelial corneal dystrophy was established. Five months after diagnosis, the corneal opacity had significantly decreased in size. Currently, no specific treatment has been administered, and regular follow-up is recommended.
