Abstract:
Sleep, feeding, and metabolism are tightly coordinated outputs of the circadian system. Previous studies showed that chronic social isolation reduces sleep and increases feeding in Drosophila . Here, untargeted metabolomic profiling revealed that chronic social isolation induces a distinct metabolomic signature spanning amino acids, carbohydrates, and lipids, establishing a foundation for understanding the physiological consequences of social isolation.
