Abstract:
Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have emerged as advanced optoelectronic devices for next-generation display and lighting applications due to their flexibility, efficiency, and lightweight nature. This review highlights recent progress in OLED materials based on perylene, porphyrin, pyrene, and pyrrole derivatives. These π-conjugated systems exhibit tunable optical properties, efficient charge transport, and strong luminescence across visible to near-infrared regions. Key molecular design strategies, including donor-acceptor engineering, aggregation control, and structural modification, are discussed. The role of these materials as emitters, charge transport layers, and interfacial components is critically analyzed. Device performance metrics such as external quantum efficiency, luminance, and stability are systematically compared. Challenges including aggregation-caused quenching, efficiency roll-off, and blue emission stability are addressed. Overall, this work provides insights into the design of high-performance, sustainable OLED materials for future optoelectronic technologies.
