Abstract:
Skin wound regeneration, scar healing, or scar evolution is a spatiotemporally continuous process with mechanisms that remain unclear. Dynamic interactions between repair cells, including fibroblasts, and the surrounding extracellular matrix scaffold are key determinants. Skin wound models that gradually deepen from the epidermis allow the simultaneous investigation of regeneration and scar-healing processes and their regulation.
