Abstract:
Alkaline zinc-air batteries (ZABs) suffer from Zn anode corrosion and hydrogen evolution. Herein, white lablab bean extract is introduced as a sustainable electrolyte additive in 6 M KOH. The active components in the extract cooperatively adsorb on the Zn anode via O/N-Zn coordination, forming a protective layer. This cooperative adsorption achieves an inhibition efficiency of about 82%, boosting the specific capacity to 799.9 mAh g-1 and extending the cycle life to 900 h at 5 mA cm-2.
