Abstract:
Dermatological guidelines represent an essential foundation for evidence-based diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of skin diseases. In Germany, they are primarily developed under the leadership of the German Dermatological Society (DDG) in collaboration with the Professional Association of German Dermatologists (BVDD), in accordance with the methodological standards of the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies in Germany (AWMF), and are regularly updated. In 2025 and 2026, numerous new or substantially revised guidelines were published, covering a broad spectrum of dermatological diseases. These include both common chronic inflammatory dermatoses and rare diseases, infectious conditions, occupational dermatoses, autoimmune skin disorders, as well as rehabilitative and diagnostic care concepts. The aim of this review is to provide a practice-oriented summary of selected, newly published or updated German guidelines from this period that are of particular clinical relevance to patient care. The selection focused on guidelines addressing substantial innovations in diagnosis or treatment, as well as those addressing common or clinically challenging diseases. As the selected guidelines cover different development levels, they differ in terms of methodology and evidence synthesis. The review therefore focuses on clinically relevant innovations and practical recommendations. Regardless of the respective development level, individual adaptation of each guideline recommendation to the specific patient situation remains essential.
