100 W-class kilohertz-linewidth single-frequency fiber laser at 922 nm
Abstract:
We report a high-power kilohertz-linewidth single-frequency fiber laser (SFFL) at 922 nm with a 103 W output power and an optical-to-optical efficiency of 24.8% while preserving a 31 dB suppression of competing 1.06 µm emission, employing the homemade polarization maintaining 20/125 µm Nd-doped silica fiber, which, to the best of our knowledge, is the first demonstration of 100 W-class SFFL at this band. Our results provide a feasible way to construct high-power Nd-doped SFFLs at 0.9 µm in all-fiber format, which may find potential applications in nonlinear frequency conversion, laser cooling of atoms, and underwater communication.
