Generation of spatiotemporal optical vortices at Brewster's angle using a single dielectric layer and its integrated
Abstract:
We demonstrate theoretically and numerically that an extremely simple structure consisting of a single dielectric layer on a substrate enables generation of a spatiotemporal optical vortex (STOV) at Brewster's angle and efficient implementation of the operation of spatiotemporal differentiation. On the basis of this single-layer structure, we propose a simple integrated differentiator enabling the generation of an STOV pulse in a slab waveguide and efficiently implementing spatiotemporal edge detection for an optical pulse propagating in the waveguide.
