Temperature-dependent burst ultra-broadband continuous white light emission in lanthanide-based phosphors
Abstract:
Continuous white light (CWL) was observed in Ln³+-doped and Yb-based compounds under 980 nm continuous wave laser irradiation. A systematic analysis of the effects of excitation power density, material melting point, and light absorption capability was performed. Results indicate that temperature accumulation modulated by material properties plays a critical role in triggering the burst phenomenon observed exclusively in Y2O3: 20% Ln (Ln = Yb³+, Er³+, Nd³+) at high excitation powers. Materials with lower melting points, such as Yb(PO3)3, exhibit superior CWL emission compared to Y2O3: 20% Yb3+. The burst behavior occurs only during the initial excitation cycle. These findings demonstrate that temperature is the key mechanism regulating CWL emission. The broadband CWL exhibits broad application prospects in fields such as nondestructive testing.
