Abstract:
The adsorption behavior of polyphenols and flavonoids from Moringa oleifera Lam. on three macroporous resins (AB-8, D-101, and NKA-9) were investigated. The AB-8 macroporous resin exhibited the optimal adsorption performance for polyphenols and flavonoids. The adsorption behavior of polyphenols and flavonoids on AB-8 resin conforms to the pseudo-second-order kinetic (R2 > 0.98) and Freundlich isothermal adsorption models. The AB-8 resin exhibits a typical S-shaped breakthrough curve for the target components. For polyphenols, the breakthrough point and saturation point are reached at an effluent volume of 40 mL and 130 mL with a dynamic adsorption capacity of 0.18 mg/g, respectively. For flavonoids, the breakthrough point and the saturation point occur at 43 mL and 110 mL with a dynamic adsorption capacity of 10.4 mg/g, respectively. This study establishes a theoretical foundation and technical support for the industrial purification and sustainable development of bioactive components in natural product resources from an energy conservation standpoint.
