Abstract:
Linear enamel hypoplasia (LEH) is a failure or aberration of enamel to form correctly, resulting in bands of decreased enamel on the tooth surface. Many reasons, including genetics, malnutrition, and childhood diseases, can cause LEH, which solely affects the neonatal line. LEH is a kind of environmental hypoplasia with many symmetrical and ring-like abnormalities. Amelogenesis is a one-time procedure, and any abnormality might result in permanent enamel abnormalities. Enamel, unlike other human tissues, cannot be restored. The consequences of enamel hypoplasia vary based on illness severity, etiological agent interaction, and patient age upon presentation. The article provides information on the etiology, epidemiology, clinical features, and differential diagnosis of LEH.
