Abstract:
In this paper I will chart the development of the medical sub-culture within Nazi German society. I intend to show that ethical regulation provided by professional societies, state, and the legal system were inadequate and failed to prevent the atrocities perpetrated by Nazi doctors and that the acceptance of the concept of "a life not worth living" was a key turning point in medical culture and practice.
