Convergent Care Theory 2.0: Integrating Artificial Intelligence Into Convergent Care to Optimize Outcomes
1Author Affiliation: UMC Health System Endowed Chair for Care Excellence in Nursing, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, Lubbock, TX.
Abstract:
Convergent Care Theory (CCT) proposes that optimal outcomes are achieved through the convergence of interdependent dimensions of care within a culture of caring. CCT 2.0 responds to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into care through 5 domains: organizational care, collaborative care, human-centered care, self-care, and AI-powered care. These domains align organizational capabilities, connect knowledge and perspectives toward shared goals, center humanity and judgment, sustain personal capacity, and intentionally integrate AI capabilities to expand the capacity of care. Six facilitators, competence, compassion, accountability, trusting, sharing, and engaging, enable purposeful convergence of the domains within a culture of caring toward optimal outcomes.
