Abstract:
In continuation of our efforts to discover novel bioactive compounds from the mesophilic Aspergillus terreus MSM18, we report mesoaspergillocins A-B (1,2), two naturally uncommon alkaloidal pyridazine/dioxazol derivatives. This was alongside our recently published terretonins M-P (S1-4), tetrahydrofuranoacrylic acid derivatives (S5a,b-6a,b), and 3-prenyl-4-hydroxy-benzaldehyde (S7). Valactamide A (S8), terreic acid (S9), 3,4,5-trimethoxy-2-(2-nicotnamidobenzamido) benzoate (S10), questine (S11), terrelumamide A (S12), asterrelenin (S13), N-α-acetyl aszonalenin (S14), 12β,15α,25,28-tetrahydroxyergosta-4,6,8(14),22-tetraen-3-one (S15), butyrolactone I (S16), ergosterol (S17), linoleic acid (S18), glycerol linoleate (S19), terrein (S20), indole-3-acetic acid (S21) and cereborsides C-D (S22-23) were reported herein as well. The chemical structures of the new compounds (1,2) were elucidated by extensive 1D, 2D NMR, and ESI HR mass measurements. The fungal extract (500 µg disc-1) exhibited considerable antimicrobic effectiveness against S. aureus (18 mm), and moderate effectiveness against B. subtilis (13 mm), M. miehei Tü 284 (13 mm) and C. albicans (12 mm). Mesoaspergillocin B (2) (40 µg disc-1) solely demonstrated low to moderate antimicrobial effectiveness against E. coli (10.5 mm), B. subtilis (10.5 mm) and M. miehei (11 mm).
