Abstract:
This descriptive study examined the current status of nursing quality management in trauma centers across 30 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in China, identified existing challenges, and offered evidence-based recommendations for improvement. A self-designed questionnaire was used to collect basic information about the hospitals' trauma centers and their nursing quality management practices. A total of 98.9% of respondents indicated that there was no nursing quality management program specifically for trauma centers; 72.2% reported the absence of a trauma quality control specialist; and 67.2% noted a lack of specialty-specific nursing quality indicators for trauma care. The most widely used quality management tools were data analysis and reporting tools (60.4%) and electronic health record systems (59.7%). Additionally, 40.1% of centers did not have a designated person responsible for trauma patient data reporting, and most trauma centers did not systematically collect patient data. It is crucial to establish nursing quality management programs and standards for trauma centers at all levels, create relevant databases, and develop sensitive quality indicators.
