Abstract:
Crystals of a ternary multi-component crystal are observed to grow by consumption of a binary multi-component crystal. The process occurs on addition of the third component to any of the three possible binary co-crystals. Binary-to-ternary conversion occurs with crystallisation from solution, by ball milling or by sublimation.
