Abstract:
The scalable synthesis of high-quality Bi2Se3 topological insulator crystals with controlled morphology remains challenging for fundamental research and optical applications. Herein, we report a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) strategy for growth of single-crystalline Bi2Se3 microflakes. By fine-tuning the growth kinetics at 480 °C, uniform microflakes with smooth surfaces and precise stoichiometry were obtained. Comprehensive characterizations confirm the high-crystallinity and c-axis-preferred orientation of the as-grown samples. Temperature-dependent Raman spectroscopy reveals high lattice stability. Power-dependent Raman measurements further reveal a distinct laser-damage threshold (∼50% of maximum power), beyond which local structural disorder arises from photothermal effects. This work not only provides a synthetic route to high-quality Bi2Se3 crystals but also establishes optical stability criteria essential for their integration into advanced photonic systems.
