Exploration on Life Education in Deceased Organ Donation in China

Life education plays a pivotal role in promoting the sound, sustainable and high-quality development of organ donation and transplantation. For families of potential organ donors, life education helps them establish a rational outlook on life and death, confront the pass of their loved ones with equanimity. Choosing organ donation realizes the continuation of life, which relieves their grief and serves as a spiritual sustenance for remembrance. For relevant practitioners, life education enhances their competency to cope with death and fosters a scientific view of life, enabling them to fulfill professional duties effectively while achieving personal growth. This paper first elaborates on the outlook on life and death embedded in traditional Chinese culture and analyzes the significance of life education for deceased organ donation. On this basis, it puts forward preliminary suggestions: conducting grief counseling for families of potential donors, and organizing professional training as well as psychological intervention for organ donation practitioners.
