Abstract:
This article presents a dataset representing a Norwegian high-voltage (HV) distribution system operated at 132/66 kV. The dataset was mainly developed in the Norwegian research centre SecurEL and will in brief be referred to as the "SecurEL reference system". Data from a real Norwegian HV distribution system provided by a distribution grid company and was anonymized and processed. The result is a simplified reference system which has features typical for Norwegian HV distribution systems: The grid has a mixed ring and radial topology and comprises four main power transfer corridors. The generation is dominated by reservoir hydropower. To our knowledge, this is the first openly available dataset representing this set of conditions for a Norwegian (HV) distribution grid. The grid model was anonymized by substituting the original line types with publicly available data. Load time series were generated by anonymizing original load time series by removing the temperature-dependent component, modelling the residual short-term variability as a stochastic process, and reintroducing the temperature-dependent component using publicly available weather data. The generation time series are made from a market model which takes grid constraints, demand and historic weather data into account. The load and generation data resolution is hourly, and the duration is 4 years (2019-2022). The dataset includes historical reliability data (failure rates), load development scenarios reflecting different assumptions on future demand growth and ambient-adjusted line ratings (AAR). The dataset can be reused for a wide range of power system analyses, including reliability studies, testing and demonstration of risk-based operational and planning methods, and evaluation of active operational measures.
