Abstract:
Bariatric surgery in a 44-year-old woman with type 1 diabetes leads to recurrent hypoglycaemia and impaired hypoglycaemia perception associated with dumping syndrome. Weight decreases from 110 kilograms to 69 kilograms, and body mass index decreases from 38 to 24.7 kilograms per square metre. Glycated haemoglobin increases from 6.8 per cent in 2018 to 9.9 per cent in 2024. Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion with Medtronic G 780 and Guardian 4 continuous glucose monitoring improves glycaemic control and hypoglycaemia perception after six months.
