Abstract:
The management of patellofemoral instability can be extremely challenging and occasionally requires complex interventions that can be associated with high complication risk. Tibial tubercle osteotomy has a high complication rate and, in the attempt to decrease the risk of hardware irritation, can sometimes lead to unintended consequences, resulting in worse overall outcomes or additional complications. In orthopaedics, it is extremely common that the surgical decision is a careful balancing act between potential benefits and risks and sometimes questions even the necessity of a complex intervention.
